About
I was born in Ashland and graduated from Paul G. Blazer High School in 1976. I attended Centre College graduating in 1980 with degrees in Economics and Government.
I had a successful 35-year career at Home Federal Savings and Loan. I retired in 2018 as the Executive Vice President and a member of the board of directors. After my retirement, I have volunteered to serve on several local non-profit boards. I am currently a member of The Paramount Arts Center, Inc., The Highlands Museum and Discovery Center, Aspire Conservatory and United Way.
I am also a member of the board of directors at Bluegrass Credit Union and Super Quick. And I am the current President of the Ashland Kiwanis Club and the treasurer of The Ashland Area Business Boosters Club. I was unanimously appointed by the current Boyd County Judge Executive and commissioners to the newly formed Northeast Kentucky Economic Development Authority where I currently serve as treasurer.
My wife, Lora King, is a licensed Physical Therapist, and does pediatric home health. My oldest daughter, Kayla, is employed by Peoples Bank and has two children, Alaina and Weston. My youngest, Jocelyn, is currently a sophomore at Ashland Blazer High School and plays on the varsity volleyball team.
I believe Boyd County has recently made great strides in bringing much needed economic development and tourism dollars to the area. I believe with my educational background and my experience in the financial world, that I can, when elected, bring even more economic development and much needed job creation to all of Boyd County. When I look at Boyd County, I will strive to increase collaboration between the cities of Ashland, Catlettsburg, unincorporated Westwood and Boyd County. We will all benefit by working together.
